I Penny King added this message on August 16, 2010: I met Jana several years ago when she became my client. Over the years she was more like a friend and someone I definitely cared about. My first encounter I knew she was a very intelligent and successful women, but had no idea how much until I read her Eulogy. That was the way she was always showing more interest in others than talking about herself. I will definitely miss her and I hope she has found peace. Dan you have been such a great support and strength for Jana and I hope you find peace and happiness. I am here for you if you ever need anything. Your friend Penny Jess Fierro added this message on August 14, 2010: As Dan and Jana's neighbor, I had frequent opportunity to witness the closeness of their relationship. They paid attention to each other, whether taking groceries out of the car or walking in the park - it was evident that they were in love and the most important people in each other's lives. It was inspiring and uplifting to see them together. Like so many others, I will miss Jana, who was beautiful, intelligent, graceful and very kind. But, I am still very happy for both Jana and Dan, who were able to share their lives in love for as long as they could. To Dan, and all of those whose lives Jana touched, I wish you all the very best. Glenn R Harshman added this message on August 13, 2010: I met Jana through her brother Jim, who was my college roommate and continues to be my friend. Jana liked visiting us at the Naval Academy, I imagine. Military ethics and honor codes were research interests of hers, and it was a great place to people-watch. I learned much of what I know about human behavior from Jana, some of it passed to me through Jim. Her parents, James and Patricia, were always so kind and giving to me. My prayer is that God has given Jana peace, and that peace may come someday to those that love her and miss her. Donna F. Anna Bellatorre added this message on August 20, 2010:
Tonight, I was watching 20/20 and a story came on about Keith Hunter Jesperson. In Jana's Sociology of Murder class (a class she designed and fought to get on the schedule), she would have her students read a biography about this man, a notorious serial killer and write a report about it. I was her TA during her last semester teaching and graded these essays. Seeing this story is the kind of thing that I would have called/e-mailed her about to compare the TV version to the reports from the biography. This is the first time that I realized that I will never be able to do that again.
I imagine in these last four weeks many of those who read this have experienced something similar to this, Dan especially. It is hard to believe I will never hear her voice again.
I miss Jana. =0(
