A Message from Jana

If you are reading these words, my life has come to an end. JanaPershing.com is my official memorial website. Work on it began early 2010 with my loving companion, Dan, to whom I am forever indebted. Our goal was to collaborate as much as possible before I died, not knowing when that day would come.

I have had many years of pain and illness to reflect on the life I've lived. My biggest regret is not having devoted more time and resources to being a patron of the environment.

Since my cancer diagnosis in April 2009, and even with learning I had been living with Lyme Disease for 4 years prior, many of you have inquired about health organizations to whom you could donate money on my behalf.

If you are so inclined, I would prefer that you instead send charitable donations to organizations that reflect causes that are dearest to my heart—the environment and the plight of endangered species. Listed below are four in particular I would ask you to support.

Further, I have requested that no funeral or memorial service be held. In place of sending flowers to Dan or other members of my family, my wish would be for you to consider sending that money to these same causes. In doing so you will help me come closer to the life I wanted for myself.
